New York Zendo Shobo-Ji, along with Dai Bosatsu Zendo, celebrate Mandala Day every month with a special chanting ceremony. Mandala Day was the day that Soen Nakagawa Roshi and Ven. Nyogen Senzaki exchanged Dharma greetings to each other across the Pacific, sharing chanting, zazen and bows. Celebrated simultaneously at DBZ, this ceremony commemorates and honors those in our lineage and all related teachers known and unknown who helped to further the Buddha-Dharma.

Mandala Day is celebrated at Shobo-Ji on the Wednesday closest to the 21st of each month. Refer to calendar for exact date. If attending, please wear clean white socks to the Zendo. There will be one period of zazen before chanting, a short sit will follow.
